Hello Avocado. How are you today? Are you ready to do your magic?
When I’m feeling a little lost, avocados always help me find my way back to myself (okay, yep, that’s a bit dramatic). But, this grounding and caring fruit fortifies me with so many amazing health benefits I don’t even know where to start. I know, I’m obsessed. Let’s just briefly discuss.
The skin of the avocado is loaded with hundreds of phytochemicals that infuse into its flesh, making avocados one of the most nutrient packed natural foods on the planet. They, more than any other fruit, aid the gut in digestion and healing. And when combined with other fruits and greens (like in my go to breakfast smoothie) they can even better work their magic… Avocados are chalk full of omega-6 fatty acids, making them excellent protectors of our brain cell functioning. And if that wasn’t enough, let’s continue to talk about how avocados help to keep us youthful with supple and soft skin, having anti-aging affects.
It’s a good thing I make sure I have some avocado every day.
Here’s and interesting fact. Did you know that Avocados are considered the mother fruit of this earth? Anthony William once said “Weather you have the taste for it or not, it’s vital to appreciate the avocado as the foundation of the pantry, the conductor of the symphony, the strongest link in the chain, the landmark, the soul of all other foods.”
Now, that may sound like a bit much but honestly I can see where he’s coming from. For me, it’s all about the soothing, filling, soul satisfying creaminess of the avocado. And when paired with toast, some chili flake, bone building sesame seeds, sea salt, and the like… literally nothing could be better.
So for those of you who have yet to discover this beautiful and fateful combination, I give you my favorite version.
