6 Incredible Cookbooks You Should Own in 2017

April 20, 2017 By Milen Gala

I know what you’re thinking… Do I really need to buy another cookbook? Really, while there are hundreds of free recipes on so many amazing websites?

Well, let me tell you, these 6 cookbooks are worth the investment. The recipes contained within these beautiful pages are hard-found on the internet. And once you taste the dishes I guarantee you’ll what to go back for more and more…

Plenty and Plenty More

This duo of cookbooks may just be the all time most used cookbooks in my pantry. London based chef, Yotam Ottolenghi has masterfully created a collections of vibrant, fresh, beautiful and exquisitely tasty vegetarian dishes to woo even the biggest food snob (ahem…). Based in Persian and middle eastern flavors he manages to elevate even the most simple dish to the ultimate. I’d almost say start with Plenty More (the little sister of Plenty) and then if you’ve tried many of recipes move on to Plenty. But you really can’t go wrong with either or. Both will leave you wanting to get the other.

Super Natural Every Day and Super Natural Cooking

If you’re just getting into the world of healthy cooking and healthy eating, Heidi Swanson has you covered. Her simple and satisfying vegetarian recipes are sure to delight even the most reluctant health foodist in you. Through her recipes, in Super Natural Cooking, she will show you five ways to incorporate whole and natural ingredients into your cooking, walking you through building a natural foods pantry and educating you on knowing your superfoods. In Super Natural Every Day she continues to delight with mouthwatering recipe after recipe. While most of her recipes are vegetarian I have easily been able to modify them to suit my vegan palate. So enjoy my friends and welcome to the world of hearty homemade cooking.

Make Your Own Rules Cookbook

If I had a spirit guru, I’d say it would have to be Tara Styles. Yoga teacher, fashion designer, self taught chef and entrepreneur extraordinaire, Tara has the most easygoing, fun and relaxed approach to life. That spirit is reflected in all the insanely easy and delicious recipes she has packed inside this delightful cookbook. Every recipe can be made with minimal time, minimal ingredients and very little prep. But somehow she’s managed to make everything tasty and look like it took an hour to prepare. If you’re living on your own or even just a young busy working couple I’d say swing by your book store and snap this one up quick. And if you really want to go crazy, pick up a copy of her first book Make Your Own Rules Diet.

Superfood Smoothies

If you’re ever in search of the best smoothie recipe book out there, look no further! Julie Morris has you covered. Packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and phytochemicals these superfood smoothies will have you beaming from head to toe in no time. This picture book not only looks pretty but is packed with 100 equally beautifying recipes. Julie will walk you through the top 15 superfoods with loads of information on their benefits. So if you’re ever in the mood to change up your morning smoothie, on your way to a smoothie cleanse, or just want a creamy slurp-able dessert that won’t weigh you down you’ve stopped at the right place my friend.

Thug Kitchen

This book is not for the faint of heart. If full of foul-mouthed words but the recipes are kick a** if I may say so myself. I don’t mean to sound sexist but this book is really for the guy’s guy who wants to eat much more health conscious. There are amazing recipes contained within these pages that will make even the biggest carnivore throw out their bakin’ & eggs. This cookbook makes an awesome addition to any vegan’s library so buy if for him, or for her, or just a gift for yourself!

Deliciously Ella and Deliciously Ella Every Day

Quite a contrast from Thug Kitchen, Ella Woods is a super sweet, super spunky, super simple girl that can really cook up some all natural yummies. Her recipes are not only vegan, but also gluten free and her essential how-to guide teaches you how to prepare and cook mouthwatering, clean, plant-based meals. Nourishment is her philosophy… and those words pour through every cell on the pages of her beautiful cookbook. She has a youtube channel so subscribe to watch her amazing personalty shine in action.
